Hey Podders!Ā  The Sugar Patch designs and makes overlays that will keep your pods secure and looking sweet without causing skin irritation.Ā  Our variety of overlays are designed with your fashion and lifestyle in mind.Ā Ā 

  • The Sugar Patch Omnipod overlay patches are precut so that the patch fits securely around your pod, and will also work perfectly with the Omnipod GripShieldā„¢ from our friends atĀ  Deck My Diabetes.
  • Ā The centerpiece that is cut-out of the overlay will be included with your patch, and can be applied to the top of the sensor to complete the design on your patch.Ā  There is no reason to pay extra for a sticker to put on your pod ever again!
  • We use specially formulated medical grade hypoallergenic tape in making all of our overlays and barrier patches.Ā  See ourĀ  CLINICAL DATA SUMMARYĀ  for more information on the results of the sensitivity tests performed on our tape.
  • Our tape is designed to last for the duration of your pod.

The Sugar Patch overlays will last longer when the following application process is followed.

Before applying your pod, use an alcohol swab or non-oily soap and water to clean the skin where your pod will be located.Ā  Be sure that the skin under and around the application site is dry, and avoid using lotions, oils or powders near the pod or patches.

Apply your pod by following the instructions provided by your doctor, or diabetes trainer.Ā  To apply the overlay, use the pad of your finger to gently lift the edge of the patch away from the backing.Ā  Center the cut-out (hole) on the patch over the pod and onto the skin.Ā  Adjustments to the patch can be made before the overlay has been pressed down to the skin.Ā  The center piece that has been cut-out can be applied to the top of your pod to complete the patch design (If you are using a GripShield, you may want to do this before applying the overlay and GripShield for a cleaner look).Ā  Using a blow dryer on low heat after applying the overlay will help to seal the adhesive to the skin.

Avoid getting the patch wet for 4 hours after applying it.Ā  After bathing or swimming, be sure to thoroughly dry the patch and pod site using a clean towel or blow dryer on low heat.Ā  Should the edges of the patch ever begin to lift, using a blow dryer on low heat will reactivate the adhesive, and you should be able to press the edges back down to the skin.
