Be sure that the skin under and around the insertion site is dry, and avoid using lotions, oils or powders near the infusion set or patches. Insert your infusion set by following the instructions provided by your doctor, or diabetes trainer. To apply the overlay, use the pad of your finger to gently lifte the edge of the patch away from the backing. Center the cut-out (hole) on the patch over the sensor and onto the skin. Adjustments to the patch can be made before the overlay has been pressed down to the skin. Using a blow dryer on low heat after applying the overlay will help to seal the adhesive to the skin. Avoid getting the patch wet for 4 hours after applying it. After bathing or swimming, be sure to thouroughly dry the patch and sensor site using a clean towel or blow dryer on low heat. Should the edges of the patch ever begin to lift, using a blow dryer on low heat will reactivate the adhesive, and you should be able to press the edges back down to the skin. The Sugar Patch Libre 3 overlay patches are precut so that the patch fits securely around your sensor, and will also work perfectly with the Libre 3 GripShield™ from our friends at Deck My Diabetes. The centerpiece that is cut-out of the overlay will be included with your patch, and can be applied to the top of the sensor to complete the design on your patch.
