How to Apply The Sugar Patch™ Overlays
Here’s a simple, skin-friendly guide to help you get the best hold and comfort from your overlay:
1. Prepare Your Skin
  • Clean the application area with an alcohol swab, or wash with mild soap and water .
  • Pat dry completely — moisture can reduce adhesion.
  • Avoid lotions, oils, or powders before applying.
2. Remove the Backing
  • Gently lift one edge of the overlay from its paper backing using the pad of your finger along the edge of the patch.
  • Peel back just enough to position it without touching the adhesive too much.
3. Position the Overlay
      • Center the overlay over your sensor, pump site, or infusion set. If using a GripShield from Deck My Diabetes, place the GripShield over the sensor before applying the overlay following these same instructions.
      • Make sure it’s aligned before pressing down — you can adjust slightly before it’s fully adhered.
        4. Smooth and Secure
        • Press from the center outward to remove air bubbles.
        • Use gentle, even pressure to ensure all edges are sealed.
        5. Optional Extra Hold
        • For added security, use a hair blow dryer on low heat on the patch after it has been applied to increase the adhesion to the skin.
        • Apply the overlay at least 4 hours before swimming, bathing, showering, or heavy activity.
