The Sugar Patch overlays will last longer when the following application process is followed.
Before inserting your infusion set, use an alcohol swab or non-oily soap and water to clean the skin where your set will be located. Be sure that the skin under and around the insertion site is dry, and avoid using lotions, oils or powders near the infusion set or patches.
Insert your infusion set by following the instructions provided by your doctor, or diabetes trainer. To apply the overlay, use the pad of your finger to gently lift the edge of the patch away from the backing. Center the cut-out (hole) on the patch over the sensor and onto the skin. Adjustments to the patch can be made before the overlay has been pressed down to the skin. Using a blow dryer on low heat after applying the overlay will help to seal the adhesive to the skin.
Avoid getting the patch wet for 4 hours after applying it. After bathing or swimming, be sure to thoroughly dry the patch and sensor site using a clean towel or blow dryer on low heat. Should the edges of the patch ever begin to lift, using a blow dryer on low heat will reactivate the adhesive, and you should be able to press the edges back down to the skin.
HAVE FUN AND LIVE LIFE WITHOUT THE WORRIES OF LOSING YOUR SENSORS!
